The International Mission to the Ecosystem of technological innovation in the Aveiro region, promoted by Inova-Ria, took place from the 2nd to the 4th of May. The mission allowed to know relevant entities, their initiatives, solutions and real cases of technology application in urban contexts.
The international committee, consisting of invited representatives of international entities that promote innovation, technology and development of territories and communities: GAIA, CyBasque, Specho, Txorierri Politekniko Center, Sofia Knowledge City Cluster, APIDNA, Absolute Systems, Paralax, Innovate. City, Perfeitura de Maceió, Smart Docklands, Sofia Municipally/innovativeSofia, Zoom Global Smart Cities, Amsterdam SmartCity, Inova Cidades Forum, Smart Flanders, University of Antwerp, BDCC Basque District Of Culture andCreativity, had contact with relevant institutions regarding the development of technology, innovation and research related to the optimization of digital territories and communities.
The three-day program began on May 2 with a visit to Altice Labs, the PCI and the University of Aveiro. He also attended the Conference "Digital Communities Meeting", held on May 3, 2023, at the Águeda Arts Center, which had a panel of national and international speakers and where topics such as "Governance of Communities", "Education, Creativity and Technology", "Digital Rights" and "Mobility of People and Bits" were discussed and the best concepts and examples related to Smart Cities in Europe and Brazil were made known. On May 4, Wavecom, IT-Instituto de Telecomunicações, Lightenjin, Globaltronic were visited and the Municipality of Vagos Case Study was presented.
The Mission, framed within the Portuguese HUB ICT Project, funded by COMPETE 2020, Portugal 2020 and the EU, developed in cooperation with Fraunhofer Portugal, focused on providing contact with institutions and companies that develop innovative technology, applied to Digital Communities/Smart Cities.
