Labour Observatory is an innovative initiative under the project Aveiro STEAM City, financed as an Urban Innovative Actions by the European Union. This project brings together a consortium of organizations committed to digital transformation, creating quality jobs and contributing to the development and sustainability of the region.

The Observatory intends to contribute to the development of competencies and talent retention in Aveiro, identifying training needs and developing qualification programs that respond to the challenges of the region's business network.

Motivated by the digital transformation of life and work contexts, the Employment Observatory conducts several activities oriented to the diagnosis of qualification and requalification needs in Aveiro, listening to firms and entities representing the ICT, Industry and Tourism and Services.

This foresight of the qualification needs of Aveiro will allow to make available in a systematic way, to citizens, to education and training entities, as well as to companies, information about the skills needs in the current labor market, increasing opportunities and competitiveness of the region. It will also allow offering in the short-term short qualification programs targeted to the specific needs of the ICT, Industry and Tourism sectors, as well as to young graduates from various areas of knowledge.

The team of the Employment Observatory is multidisciplinary, including researchers from various scientific areas of the University of Aveiro, and has the collaboration of the partners of the Aveiro STEAM City project, namely INOVA-RIA and the Aveiro City Hall.
